After examining Jesus, Pilate stood at a fork in the road. Down one path he could do what his conscience knew was right, but it would cost him everything. On the other, he could keep his cherished lifestyle by succumbing to the demands of a crowd who wanted to get rid of Jesus, but he would have to betray his conscience.
