Description: As a society, we're drained. We're always available, constantly connected, and unable to rest... and we can't shut it off. In the fourth commandment, God provides a glorious alternative to an always-on culture.
Reflection
- On a scale of one to ten (10 = you're flourishing, 1 = you're drained), how are you doing, really?
- Read Deuteronomy 5:12-15, Matthew 11:28-30, and Mark 2:27-28. What do you think Jesus meant by "the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath"?
- What might it look like for you to develop a rhythm in which you take a day off a week to stop, rest, and worship?
- What can you do this week to apply this to your life?
