No matter who we are, our hearts are prone to developing a weird relationship with money. So, in this passage, Jesus addresses our money, not because he cares so much about our money, but because he cares about our heart. He wants us to guard our heart against a self-centered relationship with our money, and instead be "rich toward God" by having a relationship with our resources that reflects the Great Commandment.
