What is a UPG?
Nearly 42% of the world’s population is considered unreached, meaning they have little or no access to the gospel of Jesus Christ. They live in one of 7,200 different Unreached People Groups (UPG) where there are very few or possibly zero Christians who can share the good news with them. For these 3.4 billion people to hear the truth, a person not living in their community must go to them, live among them in their community, learn their language and customs, and build a relationship with them to share the hope of salvation.
Two years ago, Alliance Church committed to praying for and supporting efforts to reach the Fulani people living (mostly) in western Africa. The church partners with a CAMA team that lives in Guinea; this team works to connect with the Fulani people by helping them produce good soil suitable for growing food. By helping them with a practical need, the team hopes to build relationships that will lead to an open door to introduce the love of Jesus.
This fall, Discovery Land kids all across the globe will be learning about the Fulani people, including ways to pray for them. The Mission Tree House, in Discovery Land - Appleton has been transformed into an African village, and the DL mission volunteers will help the kids learn how to pray for them and the missionaries who serve them.
What can you do?
- Pray that God will open the eyes of the Fulani people to the truth and that they will have the courage to follow Jesus.
- Pray for opportunities for the Fulani people to hear the Gospel.
- Pray for the Guinea CAMA team. Updates from this team are included in the Global Connections monthly prayer guide.
- Pray for the Discovery Land students who will be learning about UPGs this fall that they will feel the urgency to pray and maybe someday go to a country where UPGs are.

But how can they call on Him to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, ‘How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news.'
