“Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” Psalm 25:5
“Sure it’s true, I found it on the internet!” We’ve certainly come a long way in learning that everything we read is not necessarily accurate, haven’t we? It’s become clearer that we can’t trust what has been written in the media, whether we follow liberal or conservative news sites. Just because there is a little bit of fact in a news story doesn’t necessarily make the whole thing true. Whether it’s in the political realm or in what’s going on with Covid-19, what do we really know? What can we believe? What is actually true?
Isn’t it a relief to come to the Word of God and know that you can completely trust it? No slick advertising and no political slant or agenda, but pure unadulterated truth that applies to your life today? The Bible has stood the test of time showing itself to be true (John 17:17) and relevant for all generations. Because the Word is inspired by God (2 Tim 3:16), we can know with confidence that it is trustworthy, because our God is trustworthy (Titus 1:2).
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). God wants “all people to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth” (1 Tim 2:4) and when “you know the truth, the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). So pursue God through His Word and His truth will be a lamp for your feet and a light on your path (Psalm 119:105)!
