Romans 8:35-39 says, “In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

Our worst days have a way of making the future feel impossible.

We might think that an Almighty God who created galaxies and universes would have better things to do than to pay attention to our everyday lives. But here’s the thing: yes, He is almighty, but He is also a personal God who created each of us in His image. This means we have value and worth in His eyes.  

He cares about the details. The hairs on our head are numbered (Matt.10:30)!  He catches every tear (Ps 56:8). He knows exactly what we are thinking at all times and He is actually interested (Psalm 139:4)! And, He cared enough about us that He took our sins and failures, our very worst, and nailed them to the cross.  

But this is the victory; our Savior didn’t stay on the cross – He rose from the dead! And His resurrection redeems every bad day with the promise that, ultimately, we will experience the happy ending of Christ returning and making all wrongs right. All our sins and bad experiences are turned around. 

Life is still hard. But just as the suffering of Christ has meaning, now so does ours (2 Corinthians 4:17, Romans 8:17). Endurance is difficult. We are weak. That is why God gives us the Holy Spirit to help us cry out to God for strength (Romans 8:26). This strength He will give us in answer to our prayers (Romans 8:32).

The apostle Paul makes a list in Romans 8:35 of some of the things that could give anyone of us a bad day. However, he closes with a great promise: There can be no worst-case scenario for those that cling to Christ – nothing, absolutely “nothing in all of creation can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” On your worst days, find rest in His love and promises for you. This is the victory He gives you. 

And never forget, in Christ, our future is always bright.
