Faith in the Face of Fear

·

Hebrews 11:6: “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.“

What puts a smile on God’s face? Is it our good works? As important as doing good works are, according to this verse, it is our faith that pleases God. Faith is believing that the God of the Bible is real – everything said about Him in His Word is true – and we must believe that He is a good God who loves to bless those that cry out to Him.

When circumstances, such as those we are facing now, challenge these truths, then what we really believe about God is revealed. In the face of experience and circumstance, do we still believe He is sovereign? Do we still believe He is good? That He loves us?

As we struggle with the temptation to fear, let us call out the lie we’re believing and declare in the face of our challenges today that God IS good. God IS in control. God DOES love us, and whatever happens to us will be redeemed for our good and His glory. This is the truth we can shine into the dark places of our world.

Sometimes the bravest and most profound thing we can do in the face of fear is simply to keep the faith.
